Challenge Canada is part of an international experiential education organization involving youth in many nations.
Our programs offer youth from across Canada the opportunity to participate regardless of background and experience.
They foster the development of teamwork, leadership, stewardship and cross cultural ties amongst youth from other
nations. Youth continually learn to adapt and overcome each challenge they encounter along their course.
Skills are developed through participants exploring their personal boundaries, both physically and mentally in a
controlled and safe manner. Each outing and expedition, whether long or short, is run by skilled volunteers,
many of whom first became involved as participants in the programs themselves.
The volunteers promote our purpose to practice, share, and encourage the rise of the skills of the sea
including boat building, sailing, rowing and seamanship.
Atlantic Challenge is based on the teachings of Kurt Hahn,
who is regarded as one of the 20th Century’s greatest
educators. Various programs have been developed using his
teachings, including Atlantic Challenge.
Our programs use Hahn's philosophy, the sea and 38' replica
French longboats known as "gigs"
to offer experienced based learning opportunities to youth from around
the world.

The Canadian program utilizes two longboats, Vitalité and Tenacité, and a 22'8" Block Island Cowhorn,
Lester F. Hall to offer its programs across Simcoe County in addition to traveling throughout Ontario
and the world during expeditions and international contests.
Atlantic Challenge Canada is a not-for-profit Canadian charity
registered under the name The Historic Marine Association
of Canada. Our charitable registration is 89683 0494 RR 0001.
